Swivel Section: The yoke and top plate of this caster are manufactured by a drop forged process using C-1045 steel. The swivel section is made of a top plate and yoke base that features a precision machined 4 inch single ball bearing and configuration load/thrust raceway (kingpinless style). This raceway design actually places the ¾ inch diameter load/thrust ball bearings in shear load, locking the swivel section together. There is a mechanical shield to protect contamination of the swivel section.
Kingpin: Kingpinless style design
Legs: 3/8 inch by 4 inch laser cut legs. Formed on a CNC press brake and continuously welded inside and outside to the yoke base
Axle: 1 inch, Grade 5 axle with fine threads plated finish.
Lubrication: Pre-lubricated before shipping
Wheels: 6 inches to 12 inches diameter are available in roller bearing, tapered bearing or precision ball bearing
Height: 8.50 inches -15.50 inches
Swivel Lead: 2.5 inches
Finish: Gold dichromate plating. Wet paint and powder coat are optional finishes.
The 81 Series Kingpinless Casters feature a unique single ball race design, which provides a high strength swivel section. It is valued for its simplicity and providing a tough caster for difficult industrial applications where shock loading is prevalent. The top plate and yoke base are held in alignment with 3/4 inch high quality hardened ball bearings. The ease of swiveling leads to very long life-cycles and many years of low cost operation.
Suitable for power drawn applications, fiberglass mold dollies, aircraft wing and spar tooling, machinery, engine and paint line dollies, body dolly carts, material carts, chassis rack carts, towed trash gondolas, aircraft maintenance stands, production line delivery trailers and automated guided vehicles. To maximize the life of the entire caster, be sure you are selecting the correct wheel for your caster application.
Caster Concepts has a wide variety of caster options. Many of these not only improve function – but also provide safety and add longevity to the product. When considering safety options, the most common consideration would be caster locks, caster brakes, toe guards, and reinforced legs. Options that extend the life of a caster are primarily options that seal the bearing of the caster to prevent contamination of the precision parts.
Other options include threaded zerks for when an application is difficult and high level of maintenance is required and track brush wipers that keep debris from stopping movement or damaging a wheel. These options can be added at the time of manufacturing or after the caster is fully assembled.
