High Heat

High-heat casters are ideal for moving casters into an oven or other high-temperature environment. Taking the necessary precautions to ensure your equipment can handle the heat is crucial, as elevated temperatures can significantly impact the performance and longevity of your casters. High-heat casters from Caster Concepts are engineered to withstand the requirements of high-heat applications and provide a higher ROI by offering better performance and durability.

Special considerations

Caster Concepts offers a range of High Heat Casters for operating environments above 150°F and where the caster is routinely exposed to temperatures up to 350° F.
For applications above 350°F, contact us to discuss the application. We have designed and manufactured casters capable of operating in a 1,500°F environment, give us your challenging use cases.

High-temperature casters require the following:

  • High-temperature grease that maintains its viscosity and lubrication properties
  • Proper clearances on bearings for expansion
  • Wheel bearings such as roller, bronze, or high temp ball bearings
  • The hotter the application, the harder the wheel needs to be.
  • For applications above 300°F, steel or another metal wheel are the better options.

Ordering High-Heat Casters

High-Temperature casters can be ordered by adding HT for 250° F (121.1° C) rating or HT3 for 350° F (176.66° C) rating to the end of part numbers. Caster Concepts prides itself on being a make-to-order company with short lead times on our standard casters and custom casters built to your specifications. For standard products, lead times are five days or less, and  ten days or less for make-to-order casters.

high heat casters - forged steel wheel

Forged Steel Wheels, as the name implies, are manufactured in a forging operation. They are excellent for applications that have a significant risk of shock loading. They can be heat treated to increase hardness and are easy to weld.

high heat casters

Cast Iron Wheels are manufactured by melting pig iron while adding substantial quantities of scrap iron and steel scrap.  They can support a significant amount of weight and are good for demanding and high-temperature applications.

High Temp Phenolic Wheels feature a continuous wrap process making it a longer-wearing product and great for high-heat applications such as baking and curing.

Options

Caster Concepts has a wide variety of caster options. Many of these not only improve function – but also provide safety and add longevity to the product. When considering safety options, the most common consideration would be caster locks, caster brakes, toe guards, and reinforced legs. Options that extend the life of a caster are primarily options that seal the bearing of the caster to prevent contamination of the precision parts.

Other options include threaded zerks for when an application is difficult and high level of maintenance is required and track brush wipers that keep debris from stopping movement or damaging a wheel. These options can be added at the time of manufacturing or after the caster is fully assembled.
