In the heavy-duty industrial caster business, we understand that each customer and each application are unique. Designing and matching theproper caster to each specific application is not easy.

However, at Caster Concepts Inc., we recognize that merely manufacturing a quality product only equals half of the customer satisfaction equation. It’s also essential to manufacture a quality product that is appropriate for the application, or unhappy customers and caster failure can result. Worse, pairing an unsuitable caster with an unsuitable application can cause serious injury or death.

At Caster Concepts We Build Trust by committing to help our customers determine the correct caster for the intended use. One tool our engineers and sales staff use is to lead clients through a very detailed series of questions. In the rest of this post, I would like to review those questions with you.

  1. In general, how will you use the caster? Can you describe the application?
  2. What is the approximate total weight, meaning the cart and the payload?
  3. Is it a manual or powered application?
  4. What are the operating speeds and hours of operation?
  5. Is this an indoor or outdoor application, or both?
  6. Is the product exposed to moisture, heat or cold?
  7. What temperature will the unit be exposed to most often?
  8. Is the unit exposed to chemicals?
  9. Will the unit be shock-loaded?
  10. What is the material of the floor or running surface?
  11. What are the floor conditions?

For customers specifying their own casters, it is an excellent idea to incorporate the answers to these questions into your decision-making.

However, it’s essential that customers do not attempt this question-and-answer process alone, meaning without consulting the manufacturer for guidance, unless three criteria are met first: loads don’t exceed 250 pounds; a previous specified product performed well with the intended application; the customer and a trained representative of the manufactured product have already discussed the product and the application.

At Caster Concepts Inc., We Build Trust because we understand that heavy-duty industrial casters are not one-size-fits-all. We do not shoehorn together unsuitable products and applications. The Caster Concepts sales and engineering staff guide all of our customers through this detailed roster of questions. These experienced professionals listen to your answers and infuse the information into the collaborative decision-making process. This guarantees a product manufactured to the highest quality standards that meets every client’s specific needs.

Proper application of Caster Concepts manufactured products yields long-term customer satisfaction. We Build Trust by committing to this ideal, and by treating each customer and each application as unique.
