Powered Casters: Drive Caster® -The Industry’s First Motor Powered Industrial Caster Wheel

Powered Casters, or Motorized Casters: An Easy to Install, Self-Contained Unit that Integrates both the Caster and the Motor.

    • Powered Casters by Drive Caster is a first-of-its-kind, motorized caster designed to move tons quickly and efficiently.
    • With Drive Caster, a single operator can easily start, maneuver, and stop a load by using a control panel and tank steering.
    • Drive Caster has the flexibility to integrate into a variety of applications, above and beyond industrial carts and racks, such as dollies, moving walls, turntables, platforms, machinery, and more.
    • For traditional load movement, each powered caster supports 2000 pounds. When you use a motorized caster for towing, the capacity is a whopping 5000 pounds per caster – add another Drive Caster and double the weight you move.
    •  Drive Caster is a motor-driven caster wheel powered by a 1/2hp electric motor and is also available in other configurations for added versatility, including the Drive Cart and the Drive Trike.

  • Base unit starting at $10,000

The versatility of powered casters is their standout feature. They find applications in various industries, from manufacturing and logistics to healthcare and hospitality. In factories and warehouses, they effortlessly maneuver heavy pallets and equipment, reducing the physical strain on workers while increasing productivity. In healthcare settings, powered casters make patient care more comfortable and efficient, facilitating the smooth movement of beds and medical equipment.

Moreover, powered casters are known for their precision and control. Operators can easily steer them in tight spaces, ensuring safety and accuracy in delicate operations. Their rechargeable batteries make them energy-efficient and environmentally friendly, reducing the reliance on traditional, fossil-fuel-powered machinery.

Motorized caster, or a Powered Caster

Overview

Towing loads from one place to the next can take up time and resources, and if you haven’t chosen the right casters for the job, it may even increase the risk of injury. Our trademarked Drive Caster® was designed to simplify the process by reducing risk, enhancing productivity, and enabling profitability.

The Drive Caster is also available in a Drive Cart to eliminate manual pushing and pulling and can move up to 10,000 lbs. A major benefit of the Drive Cart is the motor can be disengaged so the cart can be utilized at higher speeds with a tugger or AGV. This makes it easy to maneuver from the tugger train to the work area, eliminating a major constraint in material transport.

Also available is The Drive Caster Trike, designed for moving trailers in enclosed spaces where traditional vehicles may not be able to maneuver. Capable of being fitted with a variety of trailer hitches, one person can safely and efficiently tow a trailer or cart weighing up to 5,000 lbs. with a tongue weight of around 500 lbs.

And by making heavy equipment loads easy to move, Caster Concepts has eliminated the need for manual pushing or pulling, reducing the risk of injury and the need for multiple operators.

Application

The Drive Caster® can be used in any application and in any industry, from automotive to aerospace, warehousing to distribution. Adding a second Drive Caster™ doubles the caster load capacity that can be moved. It also enables tank-style steering, where each industrial drive caster pushes in opposite directions to turn.

Options

Caster Concepts has a wide variety of caster options. Many of these not only improve function – but also provide safety and add longevity to the product. When considering safety options, the most common consideration would be caster locks, caster brakes, toe guards, and reinforced legs. Options that extend the life of a caster are primarily options that seal the bearing of the caster to prevent contamination of the precision parts.

Other options include threaded zerks for when an application is difficult and high level of maintenance is required and rack brush wipers that keep debris from stopping movement or damaging a wheel. These options can be added at the time of manufacturing or after the caster is fully assembled.
