85 Series Casters – 10,000 Lbs Max Capacity – 6 x 7.5 Top Plate – Kingpin

Swivel Section: The yoke and top plate of the 85 Series caster is manufactured by a drop forged process from C-1045 steel. The kingpin is an integral forged component of the top plate. The raceway is machined into the top plate, the kingpin is threaded and the yoke base raceway is also machined to a 5 inch diameter. The raceway is not heat treated and a precision tapered load bearing (3.875 inch ID x 5.00 inch OD) is located in the raceway (between the top plate and the yoke base) A 1.25 inch precision tapered thrust bearing is pressed over the kingpin and engages the yoke to complete the assembly.

Kingpin: 1.25 inch integral forged kingpin, precision machined threads with slotted adjusted nut and pinned to correct tightness.

Legs: 3/8 inch x 4 inch laser cut legs. Formed on a CNC press brake and continuously welded inside and outside for added strength.

Axle: 1 inch, Grade 5 axle with fine threads

Lubrication: Pre-lubricated before shipping

Wheels: 6 inch to 12 inch diameter wheels with widths from 2.5 inch to 4.0 inch. Bearing can be roller bearing , tapered bearing or precision ball bearing

Height: 8.5 inch -15.50 inch

Swivel Lead: 2.50 inch

Finish: Gold dichromate plating. Wet paint and powder coat paint is optional.

81 Series Caster

Overview

The tapered load bearing and thrust bearing enhance the precision nature of this caster creating a swivel section with the highest load carrying capacity for its class. The 85 Series delivers an exceptionally tight tolerance fit. Additionally, the integrally forged kingpin and slotted adjusting nut add strength and longevity to the life of the swivel section.

Application

Applications may include high capacity die tables, die carts, towed trailers, aerospace industry, steel mills, gantries, automated guided vehicles and aircraft maintenance applications.

Options

Caster Concepts has a wide variety of caster options. Many of these not only improve function – but also provide safety and add longevity to the product. When considering safety options, the most common consideration would be caster locks, caster brakes, toe guards, and reinforced legs. Options that extend the life of a caster are primarily options that seal the bearing of the caster to prevent contamination of the precision parts.

Other options include threaded zerks for when an application is difficult and high level of maintenance is required and track brush wipers that keep debris from stopping movement or damaging a wheel. These options can be added at the time of manufacturing or after the caster is fully assembled.
