MS spring-loaded casters a wide variety of steel and aluminum spring-loaded, shock-absorbing casters. While there are numerous offerings of spring-loaded casters on the market, MS casters are unique because of the following attributes:

All-Aluminum Casters: MS Casters are one of the only American manufacturers of completely aluminum casters. Aluminum offers several benefits, including:

  • Corrosion resistance
  • Lighter than steel and iron (Average of 40%)
  • Resists water and many chemicals
  • Non-sparking and non-magnetic
  • Aesthetically appealing

MS aluminum casters are ideal for use in wet and humid environments, outdoor use, applications where appearance matters, electronics that may be damaged by magnetization, flammable environments, and so much more.

A spring-loaded caster is a shock-absorbing caster.

Shock Absorption: MS casters are designed to achieve optimal shock reduction while drastically reducing shimmy, dynamic bounce, and resonance, even when the cart is empty or loaded beyond its maximum rated capacity.

It is not uncommon for casters with conventional spring systems to have limited deflection range and cause greater shock damage than comparable MS spring-loaded casters under identical conditions. If the springs constant is too low, it could extend the impact of the shock and continue to vibrate excessively. If the spring constant is too high, it could essentially be the same as not having a spring at all.

MS casters are custom-built for your application and specified load capacity. MS casters feature springs mounted vertically that are retained on a rod with threaded ends. The benefit of this design is that there will be no deflection of the springs when loaded with the rated load capacity.

Dual wheel casters with independent suspension

If your application requires dual wheel shock absorbing casters, consider a dual wheel MS caster with independent suspension. These types of shock-absorbing casters may be built on one axle or the wheels may be mounted in a manner that keeps them independent of one another.

Independent suspension dual wheel casters react to an obstruction with little to no impact on the other wheel on the same caster. When a single axle, dual wheel caster encounters an obstruction, both wheels are impacted.

High Weight Capacities: MS steel casters have a maximum weight capacity of 25,000 lbs per caster, and the aluminum casters support up to 6,500 lbs maximum load per caster. These high weight capacities, coupled with Modern’s shock absorption, make these casters ideal for challenging applications like aircraft ground support, staging, and other outdoor, higher weight capacity situations.

Wheel types for MS casters

MS casters are offered with three different types of wheels, Polyurethane (95A Shore hardness), Mold-On Rubber, and Pneumatic Wheels.

  • Polyurethane  wheels are ideal for indoor use, especially on hard flooring and dry environments
  • Mold-On Rubber is a softer wheel with a 70A Shore hardness making it easier on flooring. It can withstand moisture and water and is generally quieter than polyurethane wheels
  • Pneumatic Wheels (sometimes referred to as tires) Are ideal for outdoor use, rough terrain, or uneven flooring. They cushion the load and can roll over obstructions

These benefits make MS spring-loaded casters ideal for a large variety of applications. If you have any questions about how MS Spring-Loaded Casters can help your business, please contact us. For immediate assistance, call 888-296-9564. We are here to help.
