90 Series Casters – 8,000 Lbs Capacity – 8.5 x 8.5 Top Plate – Kingpin

Swivel Section: The yoke and top plate of this caster are manufactured by a drop forged process from C-1045 steel. The kingpin is an integral forged component of the top plate. The raceway is machined into the top plate and the kingpin is threaded. The components are then heat treated. A precision tapered thrust bearing is pressed over the kingpin and engages the yoke. Hardened ball bearings complete the load bearing raceway.

Kingpin: 1-1/4 inch integral forged kingpin with slotted adjusting nut and pinned to correct tightness.

Legs: 1/2 inch by 4 inch laser cut legs. Formed on a CNC press brake and continuously welded inside and outside for added strength.

Axle: 1.25 inch, Grade 5 axle with fine threads

Lubrication: Pre-lubricated before shipping

Wheels: 5 inch to 25 inch diameter wheels with widths from 3 inches to 5 inches. Bearing can be roller bearing , tapered bearing or precision ball bearing.

Finish: Gold dichromate plating. Wet paint or powder coat paint are optional

90 Series Casters

Overview

The 90 Series bearing raceways are precision machined and then hardened to eliminate brinelling of the surface when the caster is subjected to shock loads. A 1-1/4” tapered thrust bearing completes the precision fit of the raceway. This caster provides high load capacity at a good value.

Application

The 90 Series are used for power drawn equipment, stamping racks, trash gondolas, material delivery trailers, and towed trailers. These casters are also widely used on aircraft ground support equipment, in automotive plants and within steel mills.

Options

Caster Concepts has a wide variety of caster options. Many of these not only improve function – but also provide safety and add longevity to the product. When considering safety options, the most common consideration would be caster locks, caster brakes, toe guards, and reinforced legs. Options that extend the life of a caster are primarily options that seal the bearing of the caster to prevent contamination of the precision parts.

Other options include threaded zerks for when an application is difficult and high level of maintenance is required and track brush wipers that keep debris from stopping movement or damaging a wheel. These options can be added at the time of manufacturing or after the caster is fully assembled.
